Author/Mindset Coach/ Volunteer Firefighter
At 36 years old, Sean was sure he made it to the person he was supposed to be. Unfortunately, as most can surely relate, he didn't know any better and started letting his habits and fixed mindset lead him further away from the best version of himself that he could be. Working in the construction industry and having been a volunteer Firefighter in Ontario Canada for the last 20 years, Sean was used to being in a heavily masculine environment where the underlying expectations of his own mental health and wellness made him feel that he had to suck it up, fix it himself and just be a man. More and more pressure to fix things on his own and be tough came from the way Sean felt like he had to show up, having been from a long line of volunteer firefighters, including his Father, Uncle, Aunt and younger brother. This was the message from his background, the industries he worked in and everyone he was around. At the end of 2020 Sean would start to challenge this and start doing things he would have never done. Journaling, taking a break and then a complete hiatus from drinking alcohol to endurance running, writing and speaking. In 4 short years, and now at 40 years old, Sean has stopped drinking, lost 100lbs, written his memoir on his 'Going Dry' journey, embraced long distance endurance running, completely changed his mindset and is now coaching others on how they can do the same for themselves with many of the same things that have helped him on his own journey.
